Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas formed from Uranium decay in soil and rock. It is invisible, odourless, and tasteless, detectable only with special equipment. Radon removal (mitigation) in Canada typically involves installing an Active Soil Depressurization System (ASDS), also known as a Sub-Slab Depressurization System. Here’s how it works:
How is Radon Mitigation Performed?
Step 1
First, the home is assessed to determine potential locations for the system and to analyze how radon enters your home. Structural work is evaluated. If no rough-in is present, a hole is then cored through the concrete slab to get access to the soil beneath the floor.
Step 2
We then perform tests and calculations to determine the amount of suction and airlow we have to collect radon from underneath the floor and prevent it from entering your home.
Step 3
Based on the math from the previous step, we select the right fan for your system, and build the venting pipe to exhaust radon outside.
Step 4
All structural penetrations are sealed, system monitor is installed, and our team will walk you through the work performed.
